Ubuntu(OO-BOON-TOO) is a Debian based Linux OS with a release every six months.The first release is happened in October 2004 and since then it releases 11 versions till now.The Ubuntu market share in Linux Desktop is nearly 50%.
Ubuntu is always within 700MB and fully featured disktop freely available to distribute.It is released under GPL License.It is financially supported by Canonical Inc,a RSA company.Ubuntu is released in two versions Desktop and Server.
Ubuntu is an African word meaning 'Humanity to others', or 'I am what I am because of who we all are'. The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.
